Why Should You Register

The Examining Board of Natural Medicine Practitioners™ Canada is seeking to create a greater awareness of professionalism, ethics, research, and educational standards in order to present a group of Practitioners of Natural Healing™ who have met the required standard of practice to satisfy the growing need for an ever-increasing, well-rounded health care system.

Public confidence and safety is our prime concern, therefore, we can assure the public that all our members have met the educational, ethical and upgrading standards of a registering body to which they are accountable.

 

The Examining Board of Natural Medicine Practitioners™ Canada does not represent any one particular Natural Health Professional; we are a multidisciplinary group whose members are Traditional Medicine Practitioners, Naturotherapists, Holistic Homeopaths, Acupuncturists, Manual Osteopaths, Ayurveda Vaidyas and Practitioners, Dentists, Holistic Practitioners, Chiropractors, Nutritional Medicine / Allergy Elimination / Lifestyle Management Practitioners, and Eastern Medicine Doctors.

Individuals interested in becoming registered may be required to pass qualifying examinations prior to registration and must agree to abide by the Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct.

How to Apply

  • Payment can be made by cheque/money order payable to EBNMP Canada; Credit card; Etransfer.

  • Incomplete or illegible applications will be returned. 

  • An email address MUST be provided.

  • You must include copies of all relevant certificates/diplomas and/or curriculum vitae.

  • If your documents are not in English or French, you must provide an officially translated version along with a copy of the original attached.

  • Provide proof current of Professional Liability (Errors and Omissions) Insurance (can also be applied for after joining.

  • Natural Medicine Practitioners© who are Doctors of other regulated health care professions must show proof of license to practice in their primary field.

  • The assessment fee is NON-REFUNDABLE & is NOT INCLUDED as part of the registration fee.

  • Enclose 1 passport sized picture for your file (color or black & white)

  • Please allow 4 - 6 weeks for the evaluation of your registration package.

Examinations & Testing Format

The World Board of Natural Medicine has provided challenge examinations for practitioners wishing to show proficiency within the DNM® & Natural Medicine Practitioner© Scope of Practice. No other organization is sanctioned.

 

As the practice of Natural Medicine moves towards regulation in Canada, these Entry-to-Practice Competencies exams will be a mandatory component for registration. The Secretary General will notify members as necessary.

 

Entry-to-Practice Competencies exams consist of Multiple-Choice questions. A study guide will be provided and may be freely referenced. Practitioners are encouraged to study the handbook on their own or with peers in small study groups to prepare for the exams.

Continuing Competency Education (CCE)

All members are required to complete yearly upgrading and assessment of competency to guarantee public safety. These measures are mandatory in order to maintain the high quality of professional standards that are required for the profession and is set by the WBNM.

 

Natural medicine is the largest growing industry in the world and practitioners must continually enhance and expand their knowledge and skills.

 

  • CCE for Level IV Practitioners - 60 hours.

  • CCE for Level I, II & III Practitioners - 40 hours.

 

Hours may be accumulated as follows (verification is required*):

 

  • Traditional methods:

    • Preceptorship and Mentoring

    • New training in any Natural Medicine modality

    • Attendance at seminars, conferences, workshops, etc

    • Video / Audio-taped / internet-based courses or seminars

    • CPR refresher course every 3 years

  • Nontraditional methods:

    • Literature Review on any Natural Medicine modality

    • Facilitating lectures in any Natural Medicine modality via:

      • Seminars, conferences, grand rounds, etc

      • Meetings where case studies are discussed

      • Protocol Writing

    • Community & volunteer service activities

    • Practice building / self-growth activities

    • Proprietary programs, which promote exclusive services and/or products

    • Authoring of an article/book related to Natural Medicine

    • Research in the advancement of any Natural Medicine modality **

 

* Verification of traditional or nontraditional methods include copies of certificates or diplomas; proof of payment or attendance; completed checklist containing dates/hours/titles of books reviewed, video/audio/internet presentation. In the case of facilitating lectures, please include a copy of the brochure or handouts that confirm you as being listed as a presenter.

 

** Verification of research related to the advancement of any Natural Medicine modality should include the type of research being conducted, purpose and summary of research, dates of participation, and disclosure of any fiduciary relationships.
