Ayurveda: The Mother of Healing

Examining Board of Natural Medicine, EBNMP Canada, and our resource member, Ayurveda Rituals, invites our members to retreat and community in Ontario on Saturday July 18, 2026. Our esteemed resource member is celebrating Lord Dhanvantari, Avatar of Ayurveda and Physician to the divine beings or Devas. He is depicted with arms that hold a trumpet, a meditation wheel, medicinal herbs and a pot containing Amrita (elixir of immortality), with images often of a conch and a book of knowledge.

 

The Bhagavata Purana, state that Dhanvantari emerged from the Milk Ocean (a place of consciousness) brining the knowledge of healing.  He proved to be a great healer and classified the knowledge of medicine - Ayurveda into eight fields and disseminated it to his students.  There are Dhanvantari temples all over India and the surrounding diaspora.
